Amalgam-Free Dentistry

Amalgam Free Dentist Chicago
Amalgam-Free Dentistry

We aim to provide the safest, most eye-pleasing restorative treatments to our patients. In this effort, we proudly place only composite resin, tooth-colored fillings and porcelain inlays and onlays. These restorations are as strong and durable, yet safer and more esthetic than traditional metal fillings. As a result, Dr. Jackson can be proudly considered an amalgam-free dentist in Chicago.

Amalgam Free Dentistry in Chicago

For small areas of decay, composite fillings are much more natural looking than traditional amalgam fillings. They are also considerably healthier for our patients. Amalgam fillings are composed of mercury, a highly controversial material. Studies continue to be completed surrounding the effects of mercury on the human body. Only time will tell us definitively whether the mercury in amalgam fillings is harmful, but we have proactively made the decision to be an amalgam free practice.

Our amalgam-free fillings:

  • Can be color-matched to your natural tooth for a completely lifelike appearance
  • Won’t change size or shape with temperature changes like amalgam, offering protection against tooth fractures and trapped bacteria
  • Provide greater support and increased tooth strength
  • Will last a very long time with good care

Inlays & Onlays

For patients with larger areas of decay, inlays and onlays are an ideal restoration. In a sense, inlays and onlays are fillings designed of porcelain materials which closely mimic natural teeth. An inlay works to repair damage within the cusps of the tooth, while an onlay fits over the biting surface area of a tooth to repair one or more cusps. Inlays and onlays are designed by Dr. Jackson and crafted with the help of our talented ceramist and technician. The benefits of both are that they are strong, durable, and very natural-looking restorations.

If you think you may be a candidate for a filling, inlay, or onlay and are looking for an amalgam-free dentist in Chicago, we can help! Call our office today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Jackson.
