Dr. Jackson's Biography

Dr. Tom Jackson has an unmatched history of dental education at three premier medical institutions. Beginning his dental training, Dr. Jackson attended the Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois. At the University, Dr. Jackson earned the respect of his teachers and classmates for being hardworking, intelligent, and extremely capable of fine dental work. During his four years of dental school, Dr. Jackson maintained a scholarship based on excellent academic performance, was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society, was given an award for Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry by his faculty, and graduated 3rd in a class of over 90.

Dr. Jackson's hard work allowed him the opportunity to attend a one-year general practice hospital residency at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He excelled in the program, and was invited back for a second year as Chief Resident in the department of dentistry, directly supervising three first year residents. It seemed at the time that a career in hospital-based dentistry was inevitable, as the following year Dr. Jackson was offered a position as an attending dentist within the department. Upon acceptance, Dr. Jackson became one of the youngest attending doctors to be granted privileges at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

With time, however, Dr. Jackson realized that he had a particular interest in the cosmetic and reconstructive aspect of dentistry. He was accepted to the one-of-a-kind Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis residency at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Again, Dr. Jackson met with success as he excelled in the program, earning a scholarship based on a faculty selection process, and the Director's award given to the most outstanding student in the class. Dr. Jackson's program director soon recognized his talent and ability, and asked him to join his own private practice in Philadelphia. The patients and staff saw Dr. Jackson deliver an exceptional level of dentistry and customer service, and he quickly found success.

But the transition from graduation to private practice has not been the end of Dr. Jackson's quest for learning. He is so committed to continuing education that he not only attends numerous seminars each year, but he lectures nationally and internationally on topics of cosmetic periodontology and implant dentistry. In addition, Dr. Jackson felt that it was important to go beyond the minimal graduation requirements set forth by the American Dental Association. He passed a rigorous board examination and is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

It has been many years since Dr. Jackson left his hometown to pursue an advanced education. Inevitably, the dream of starting his own practice began to surface. With great sadness he left his friends and patients in Philadelphia to come home to his friends and family in Chicago.

Sparked by his unique experience and guided through his vision, Dr. Jackson fulfilled his dream by creating the Chicago Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry.
