Periodontics

With Dr. Jackson's advanced training in Periodontics, he is uniquely qualified to deliver dental care specific to the health and appearance of your gums, and supporting structures of your teeth and implants.
This is just one more benefit provided to the patients of The Chicago Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, where Dr. Jackson and his support staff are trained to pay particular attention in coordinating the cosmetics of the gum line with the cosmetics of the teeth. In doing this, a higher level of more comprehensive care is delivered, and it shows in every smile Dr. Jackson makes over.
To Dr. Jackson, patient satisfaction is the ultimate goal. In working to achieve this, he has the education and expertise to maximize cosmetics and aesthetics, by creating a symmetrical gum line. Most periodontal work can be completed in a single visit, and most patients return to regular activities the following day.

The word "periodontics" can be confusing. It actually refers to dental care specifically related to your mouth’s gums and the supporting structures of your teeth and implants.
Think of it like this: General dentists diagnose and treat general disease conditions related to teeth and mouth and also use basic cosmetic procedures to enhance your smile. They can also perform uncomplicated surgical procedures such as tooth extractions and work to improve your overall oral health.
There is also a very select group of dentists called specialists (approximately 20% of all practicing dentists, according to the American Dental Association) that provide more specialized dental services and complete a post-graduate specialty program before being qualified to do so.
Dr. Thomas Jackson of The Chicago Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry is among this select few, and is a dually trained specialist, specializing in periodontics and fixed prosthodontics. After graduation and completion of a residency program, Dr. Jackson was appointed to the medical staff at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. It was while working there that Dr. Jackson made the decision to further his education and he went on to graduate from a combined four-year residency in Periodontics and Periodontal-Prostheses at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Likewise, his extensive training and experiences in periodontics enable him to understand that the gum tissue is often equally important in the cosmetics of the smile. As he knows, there may be deficiencies, discolorations, or asymmetries within the gums that will inevitably diminish any cosmetic restorative treatment. The end result of periodontics by Dr. Jackson avoids these issues to create a healthy smile you'll love.
